Canoe the Great Coharie River
Experience a guided, flat-water kayaking trip with the Coharie Tribe. The adventure begins at the Coharie Tribal Center, where you can see a 600 year old dugout canoe and tour the museum! This trip will take approximately 6 hours including drive time to the river. This field trip will have a maximum of 20 participants due to space limitations. You will be able to rank your preference when you register for the conference.
Science and Art Museums in Raleigh

Participants on this field trip will go to both the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and the North Carolina Museum of Art .
Art: Through the People’s Collection, the state art collection that belongs to the citizens of North Carolina, and a 164-acre Park, the NC Museum of Art strives to create a sense of welcome and belonging. The collection galleries span more than 5,000 years, from antiquity to the present, and provides countless cultural experiences for the people of North Carolina and beyond. The Museum Park showcases the connection between art and nature through site-specific works of art and notable programming.
Science: The state’s museum devoted to science and nature, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in central Raleigh is the largest institution of its kind in the Southeastern United States. The dual concepts of illumination and inspiration are integrated into the work and stories told through the Museum. Across three vibrant floors of laboratories and exhibitions, the Nature Research Center provides an unparalleled opportunity to see science in action by watching Museum researchers studying the natural world in real time. In the Nature Exploration Center, exhibits and live animal displays reveal North Carolina’s rich natural habitats, wildlife and geology from the Appalachian Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean.
